Land surveyors: records of survey

The law clarifies who receives, reviews, and returns land-survey records, including checks that monuments are properly identified. It standardizes communication with the licensed professionals who submit those records.

What the law does ​

• Requires county surveyors to return noncompliant records of survey to the submitting licensed land surveyor or licensed civil engineer with required corrections.
• Requires corner records to be filed with county surveyors rather than county engineers.
• Requires county surveyors reviewing corner records to check compliance with monument identification and tagging requirements.
• Requires county surveyors to examine, endorse, and file or return corner records within 20 working days, and to file corrected resubmissions within 10 working days.
