Local educational agencies: planning and reporting requirements: template: repealer

The law aims to reduce duplicative reporting work for school districts, county offices of education, and charter schools while making grant results and spending easier to report consistently.

What the law does ​

• Requires the California Department of Education to create and post a standardized template for final programmatic and spending reports on competitive state grants by October 1, 2027, except grants for technical-assistance providers.
• Requires the template to cover essential administrative details, program results, spending, the future of funded activities, and any information required by statute.
• Requires the department to consult diverse local education stakeholders, avoid duplicative data collection, and keep grant-reporting demands within statutory or regulatory requirements.
• Requires the department to provide the template with grant-award notices and again six months before final reports are due, with administrative information prefilled, beginning January 1, 2028.
• Requires new bills imposing covered competitive-grant reporting requirements to use the standardized template for final reports, unless the bill requester directs otherwise.
• Requires new bills imposing local educational agency plans or reports to end those requirements within four years, unless otherwise directed.

Context ​
