Pest control: registration fees

Counties may charge higher fees for required pest-control registrations, with phased caps for several professions beginning in 2027.

What the law does ​

• Raises the annual cap for pest control businesses to $75 in their home county and $50 in each additional county.
• Sets phased annual fee caps for pest control aircraft pilots and pest control advisers: $55 in a home county and $10 in an additional county in 2027, rising to $75 and $25 in 2029.
• Sets phased annual fee caps for Structural Pest Control Board registered companies: $55 in a home county and $30 in an additional county in 2027, rising to $75 and $50 in 2029.
• Retains county authority to set registration fees and requires fees for structural pest control registrations not to exceed processing costs.

Who it affects ​

• Pest control businesses, aircraft pilots, and pest control advisers required to register with counties.
• Structural pest control companies, qualifying managers, operators, field representatives, applicators, and fumigation licensees.
• County agricultural commissioners and county boards of supervisors administering registrations and fees.
