Labor: apprenticeship: Equal Representation in Construction Apprenticeships Grant Program
California creates a grant program to expand access to construction apprenticeships for women, nonbinary people, and underrepresented populations.
The program is intended to grow participation, completion, employment, and retention for these groups in construction trades. It operates only if the Legislature appropriates funding.
What the law does
- Requires the Department of Industrial Relations, through the Division of Apprenticeship Standards, to establish and administer the Equal Representation in Construction Apprenticeships Grant Program when funded.
- Supports greater access to Division-registered preapprenticeship and apprenticeship programs for construction careers.
- Seeks to increase awareness, enrollment, completion, employment, and retention among women, nonbinary individuals, and underrepresented populations.
- Authorizes the department to issue implementation rules, regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
