Claims against the state: appropriation

The funding enables prompt payment to successful claimants and resolves the state's obligations in the listed cases.

What the law does ​

• Appropriates $7,391,650.83 from the General Fund to the Attorney General for eight specified cases.
• Allocates $2.775 million for California Chamber of Commerce v. Bonta, $1.5 million for The Personal Care Products Council v. Bonta, and $900,000 for Junior Sports Magazines Inc. v. Bonta.
• Allocates the remaining funds among specified firearm-related, charitable-registration, forestry, and other claims.
• Requires any unneeded payment funds to return to the General Fund by June 30 of the fiscal year when final payment is made.
• Takes effect immediately to speed payment and reduce hardship for claimants.
