California Community Schools Partnership Program: Promise Neighborhoods
California lets community-school grantees use up to 10% of their funding to lead and coordinate school networks in Promise Neighborhoods.
The law expands how local education agencies may use existing Community Schools Partnership Program funds to coordinate services across multiple schools in high-need neighborhoods. Retained funds must follow the state’s community-schools framework.
What the law does
- Permits local educational agencies to retain up to 10% of annual community-school allocations for administration, professional learning, networking, and service coordination.
- Allows those retained funds to support an agency acting as network lead for multiple eligible schoolsites in a Promise Neighborhood.
- Requires retained funds to be used consistently with the California Community Schools Framework.
Who it affects
- Local educational agencies operating eligible community-school sites.
- Students, families, educators, and community partners served through community schools and Promise Neighborhood networks.
