Foster care: childcare
Foster-care childcare navigators can now refer children to county bridge-program eligibility reviews.
The law creates a direct route from childcare-navigation services to county review for time-limited childcare help, helping eligible foster children and families access the existing Emergency Child Care Bridge Program.
What the law does
- Authorizes childcare navigators to refer foster children to a county welfare department for eligibility and approval under the Emergency Child Care Bridge Program for Foster Children.
- Requires participating county welfare departments to determine eligibility for every child referred by a childcare navigator.
Who it affects
- Foster children referred by childcare navigators.
- Resource, kinship, tribal, emergency-placement, and parenting foster-care families seeking childcare support.
- Participating county welfare departments and childcare resource and referral programs.
