Public postsecondary education: academic exchange programs: plan

The law seeks to strengthen California-Mexico higher-education ties by expanding opportunities for students to study through cross-border exchange programs.

What the law does ​

• Requires the California State University to adopt an exchange-expansion plan and requests the University of California to do the same.
• Requires plans to describe existing Mexico exchange programs and partnerships.
• Requires strategies to expand student access and participation, build institutional partnerships, provide outreach and student support, and coordinate resources and best practices across campuses.
• Makes the requirements effective only if funds are appropriated for these purposes.
