Workforce development: Displaced Oil and Gas Worker Pilot Program: extension
California makes its displaced oil and gas worker assistance program permanent, subject to legislative funding.
The program supports workers losing jobs in oil, gas, and related industries as refineries close. It can continue providing transition services beyond its prior July 1, 2027 expiration date when the Legislature appropriates money.
What the law does
- Removes the July 1, 2027 sunset date for the Displaced Oil and Gas Worker Pilot Program.
- Requires the Employment Development Department to operate the program only when the Legislature appropriates funding.
- Continues competitive grants to eligible organizations for authorized services benefiting displaced or transitioning oil and gas workers.
