Civil claims: public entities and employees: declaration
Public-entity claims must now include a declaration that their contents are true and correct.
People seeking damages from a government entity or employee must formally attest to the accuracy of their claim based on information and belief.
What the law does
- Requires claims against public entities or employees to be signed with a declaration that the claim is true and correct upon information and belief.
- Keeps the exception allowing business claims to local public entities for supplies, materials, equipment, or services to be submitted unsigned on a regular business billhead or invoice.
